Presentation of Belarusian nuclear station construction project in Czech Brno

The presentation of the Russian company Rosatom’s project to build the nuclear power plant in Belarus will take place within the framework of the European nuclear industry suppliers forum Atomex Europe. The forum opened in the Czech city of Brno on 8 October, the press service of OOO Atomexpo (Russia) told BelTA.

Apart from the presentation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant the state corporation Rosatom intends to inform forum participants about plans concerning the construction of nuclear power plants in Russia. The company will present projects regarding the construction of the Baltic nuclear power plant, the Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu, the Indian power plant Kudankulam, the Vietnamese nuclear power plant Ninh Thuan.

Held on 8-9 October within the framework of the 55th international mechanical engineering expo MSV 2013, the forum Atomex Europe includes a conference. Conference participants are expected to discuss matters concerning international cooperation in building Russian-design nuclear power plants as well as cooperation in designing and building nuclear reactors of small and medium output, research reactors.

The formation of a chain of suppliers will be discussed as well as the experience and potential of Central Europe enterprises, including Czech ones, capabilities of banks to finance export and import operations. Deputy Director General of Rosatom, head of the international business and development division Kirill Komarov is expected to take part in the conference.

Atomexpo representatives told BelTA that delegates of the Atomex Europe forum will be able to plan meetings and negotiations with representatives of Russian nuclear industry companies in an interactive way.

The Russian design AES-2006 featuring a water-cooled power reactor VVER-1200 has been chosen to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant that will be located at the Ostrovets site in Grodno Oblast. The project’s completion time is stipulated by the general contract, which provides for commissioning the first power-generating unit of the nuclear power plant in November 2018 while the second one is scheduled to go online in July 2020. In line with the project documentation approved by the Belarus government the Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units with the installed nominal capacity of 1,194MW each. The installed capacity of the entire power plant will be 2,388MW. The station is designed to operate for 50 years. The average annual electricity output in basic operation mode is projected at 17,095.1 million kWh.
