Nuclear safety exercise to take place at BelNPP, in Ostrovets District on 4 September

MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – A tactical exercise focusing on nuclear and radiation safety of the population will take place at premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and in Ostrovets District on 4 September, the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry press service told BelTA.

As part of the exercise special vehicles of the Emergencies Ministry and the Internal Affairs Ministry will move into the area followed by well-geared personnel. Public announcement systems will be used during the exercise. Population evacuation from a populated locality will be practiced. Local residents are advised to show understanding about the exercise.

The tactical exercise focusing on nuclear and radiation safety of the population will proceed as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's joint special exercise for rescue units Skala 2023 [Rock]. The Skala 2023 exercise will last in Belarus through 6 September.
