More builders needed for Belarusian NPP construction

The number of workers at the building site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant needs to be increased to 3,000 by the year-end, said Adam Kovalko, a member of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee, at the session of the Council of the Republic on 18 October, BelTA has learnt.

As many as 1,600 builders are currently working at the site. “Preparatory work at reactors No. 1 and 2 is about to be completed. On 5 November we will officially begin works at the nuclear power plant itself. We expect that the decree will be issued on 28 October. After it we will officially begin concreting operations. The number of builders should be increased to 3,000 by the year-end,” Adam Kovalko underlined.
