02.04.2013

Belarus expects to address all the issues Lithuania has concerning the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in the near future, Alexander Andreyev, Head of the Department for State Environmental Expertise under the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of Belarus, told media on 2 April.

Consultations with Lithuania continue. “We continue them and hope to complete them within the next two months. Lithuania has sent a number of issues. Our experts are preparing answers. In the near future they will be sent to the Lithuanian side. After that we hope we will hold a meeting between the experts of the two countries to wrap up the procedure,” the official said.

In his words, Lithuania is interested, first of all, in the feasibility of the choice to build the plant in Ostrovets as well as its radioactive effect on the territory and people of Lithuania.
